1981 Drag Picklefork Hydro
This 20 ft Howard pickle fork 3-point hydroplane, built by Jack Wheeler Racing, is a high-performance machine designed for 1/4 mile drag racing but has never been raced. It features a powerful 496 cu in alcohol motor with a 10.5:1 compression, built on a Chevy tall deck truck block. The engine is equipped with a 1/4" stroker crank, custom oil pan, and an oil scraper shield, ensuring reliable performance. The Olin external aircraft oil filter provides additional protection, while the Crower roller cam and roller rockers enhance the engine's efficiency. The motor also boasts ported and polished heads, Mickey Thompson elephant rods, and an 8-71 blower with Enderle injectors, all powered by a Mallory mag. The motor is fresh and ready to perform. The transmission is a CO2-operated Lenco 2-speed, coupled with a Lenco clutch, providing smooth shifting and power delivery. A cleaver blade prop on a 1-1/4" Monel prop shaft ensures top speed and stability on the water. The hydroplane is also equipped with a drag parachute for added safety. It comes with a tandem trailer for easy transport. This boat has been used for only one hour and is in exceptional condition, ready for drag racing enthusiasts seeking a one-of-a-kind watercraft.
