in 1968 in Grandson in Switzerland Franco Sbarro has developed countless automobiles in his company on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel and also reconstructed special vehicles that were only built in very small numbers.
Franco Sbarro presented most of his designs every year at the Geneva Motor Show...
Later, small series of some prototypes were produced, or there were also so-called commissioned works ,, , in which Franco Sbarro worked in a very customer-oriented way.
This vehicle was not simply a replica or a replica.
At that time, the legal department of BMW Munich tolerated the construction of the "BMW 328 Roadster made by Sbarro", and thus made the production of this unique roadster possible in the first place.
Originally, the extremely elegant 328 Roadster was built in small numbers by BMW in a production period from 1937 to 1939.
According to BMW, around 460 vehicles of this "dream sports car" were produced at the time.
Today, the best examples reach sales prices of up to 1 million euros,
while good vehicles range between €650,000 and €850,000
With BMW's agreement regarding the shape and name rights, Franco Sbarro presented his first prototype of the BMW 328 Roadster by Sbarro, at the Geneva Motor Show in 1974.
The 328 Roadster was a huge success right from the start and Franco Sbarro was able to win some customers for the vehicle at the show...
First and foremost, Franco Sbarro wanted his roadster to be ahead of the BMW 328 Roadster from 1937, especially in terms of technology and, of course, drivability.
Thus, the BMW 328 Roadster by Sbarro was not only visually based on the original 328 BMW Roadster from the 1930s, but was also completed with new technology from BMW.
Franco Sbarro's vehicles were not simply mass-produced, but were made exclusively for each individual customer.

The ultimate, ultimate driving machine. This beautiful recreation was built by the Sbarro factory in Switzerland in 1976. It has the elegance and grace of the 328 with the practicality, power and performance of mid seventies BMW technology. The engine is 2.5 liter slant 4 with dual Webers with a 5 speed manual transmission.
This car is very rare in that a total of 80 were made and of those 80 only 10 were made for export to the United States, this particular car, is number 6 of those 10 as documented by a letter of authenticity signed by Franco Sbarro, it has the original import documentation as well as the statement of origin. It is totally original, with 15,000 original miles. This low mileage is a result of being on display in a Seattle museum for many years.
In 1974, Sbarro debuted his BMW 328 replica at the Geneva Motor Show. As noted at the outset, his concept was to recreate the aura and style of the time but do away with certain antiquated features. The BMW 328 was designed as a competition model from the get-go and gave BMW a sports image with an outstanding appearance and performance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The artist that brought the 328 alive once again, was the Italian-born Franco Sbarro, he became interested in everything related to mechanics at a young age. After studying in Lecce, Italy, Sbarro Settled in Neuchatel, Switzerland, in November 1957 where he worked as a mechanic. He bought a small garage two years later and soon after met George Filipinetti of the famous Scuderia Filipinetti team. Sbarro started replicating various exotic automobiles in the early 1970's with the majority based on historic cars, including Bugattis, GT40s, Lola T70s and the Ferrari P4. It's interesting to note that these replicas used German mechanicals from either BMW or Mercedes Benz, and even the Porsche 911 for the limited-production stash.
