Description

1970 Triumph Bonneville T120

1970 Triumph Bonneville T120, considered one of the most desirable models in the vintage motorcycle world. This bike has undergone a museum-quality restoration, with painstaking attention to detail throughout. The engine has been completely disassembled, degreased, media blasted, and rebuilt to factory specifications, including new bearings, a fresh rebore, and new Hepolite 9:1 pistons and rings. The cylinder head has been glass bead blasted and rebuilt with new valves, phosphor bronze valve guides, and new springs. The bike features brand-new Amal 930/300 and 930/301 carbs, correct NOS herringbone oil feed and return lines, and new made-in-UK exhaust pipes with crossover, correct for the 1970 model year.

The drivetrain and transmission have also been fully rebuilt, including a new clutch basket, driven plates, and drive chain, with all moving parts checked and replaced as needed. New shocks with exposed chrome springs and a rebuilt swingarm add to the bike’s superb ride quality. The front and rear hubs have been rebuilt with new bearings, and the front drum brake has been powder-coated and fitted with new shoes and hardware. The flawless CWC Elite chrome wheel rims are built with stainless spokes and wrapped in correct profile K70 tires.

Cosmetically, the bike is stunning, featuring a new UK-made seat, rebuilt Smiths magnetic instruments, a new correct cloth wiring harness, and a headlamp with a new Lucas lens, ammeter, and switches. The fuel tank is in excellent condition, with new fuel taps, cap, and a center styling strip, while the fenders have been painted to match and are in superb condition. Additional details include a rechromed kickstart and gearshift lever, an improved "wedding band" seal configuration on the pushrod tubes, and a brand-new UK-made chainguard.

This bike sat in a California collection for several years before being sold to Pennsylvania, then New Jersey, and now it's available for the next discerning collector. Though it doesn’t have a title, a bill of sale is available. Recently, I spent countless hours getting this Bonneville back on the road, including the installation of a Pazon electronic ignition. It's been ridden only four miles since, runs beautifully, and starts easily. As a British bike mechanic with over 40 years of experience, I can confidently say this is the finest example of a 1970 Triumph Bonneville I have ever seen. It’s a rare opportunity to own a true piece of motorcycle history.
