Owner’s Description
“This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS Convertible is a highly original, matching-numbers RS Convertible with factory 327 V8 power and a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. Originally finished in factory Teal Blue with a black interior, the car is currently painted black but still retains its original GM Fisher Body identification plate confirming the factory specifications.
Owned since 2012 and titled in South Carolina, this Camaro is an authentic RS model featuring the desirable hideaway headlight system, which still operates, along with factory air conditioning (needs charged), front power disc brakes, original suspension components, and factory rally wheels. The matching-numbers drivetrain has been verified multiple times, and the engine compartment remains nearly all original aside from an upgraded electronic ignition distributor for improved reliability.
The car runs and drives very well and is described as reliable enough for long-distance cruising. The Muncie 4-speed shifts smoothly, gauges largely function properly, and the factory-style updated digital AM/FM radio maintains the original appearance of the dash. The black vinyl interior with desirable houndstooth cloth inlays has been recently redone and presents beautifully, while the white manual convertible top remains in good overall condition.
Structurally, the car is exceptionally solid with no significant rust or rot, good floors and trunk, and only very minor isolated areas noted. The current black paint is faded and cracking, making this an excellent candidate for repainting back to its original Teal Blue for maximum collector appeal and value. Overall, this is a very honest, highly original RS Convertible that runs and drives great while offering an outstanding foundation for a high-level restoration or enjoyable classic cruiser.”
