Owner’s Description
“Always the most unique unit at the campground. Be prepared for A-LOT of people coming up to you looking for a tour! If you have ever wanted a vintage trailer and to become part of what is an amazing group of people from all aspects of life, THIS IS YOUR CHANCE! There is no Astrodome for sale currently in the USA, this is the only one! Google it. Also, look up vintage trailer rallies on YouTube to see what it is all about if you haven’t already. This sixty-three-year-old trailer has been in our family forever, and it is still the coolest trailer I have ever owned and I have had every kind. The interior is all wood with nothing painted over and hidden. It was built with a rare ash wood interior. We all know there is no modern-day camper that will still be in use sixty plus years from now because it is all about speed and profit, not, quality and durability like this Shasta Astrodome! This is not a perfect unit but, it's pretty amazing for its age. I have upgraded this camper in a way that improves its usability and safety while retaining its vintage original and wonderful charm. It is titled in my name and has current tabs. The word Astro refers to the cab-over and the word Dome refers to the room with the toilet. One of my little brothers studied for the bar exam in this trailer one summer with it parked down at the lake and yes, he passed the exam and he retires in three years! It has been used a guest cabin, a quiet reading area, a changing room for swimming, a game room and of course a camper. After 63 years it remains as a testament to beautiful and durable construction, easy on the eyes and so much fun! With three sleeping areas and two eating areas this camper can accommodate the whole family. Originally designed with a couch across the front, this area has been remodeled into a booth drastically improving usability and allowing for storage under the seating area. This camper has a lot of storage for its size with generous cabinetry and like a class c motorhome the overhead bunk can be used for storage when not being used for sleeping. There is still room for you to get involved too! A new canvas awning, maybe flooring or a flat screen tv. All the fun little items that will make it your own very special happy place. Your Astrodome has “good bones” and, that is a solid place for you to start. I purposely kept the colors understated, to me that’s what I like. You of course are you, so imagine what you will do with this to make it your own. There is room to add an inverter, more battery power and more if you need to work away from shore power. This Astrodome weighs 2100 pounds and has a 300 pound tongue weight. It is 16 feet long, 7 feet wide and 8’ 6” feet tall.
