Seller’s Note

1938 was the first year of production for the Ford Tonner with 4,671 being produced. With this Tonner, Ford introduced the first front-opening truck hood in the industry. This 1938 Tonner (model 81-Y) is a Concours winner with outstanding paint, chrome, and wood. It is an all-metal restoration and is presented essentially as it was originally built. All components were repaired and rebuilt during the restoration. Body parts were painted separately before being reinstalled on the frame. This frame up restoration was completed in June of 2019 and was featured in Hemmings Classic Car and Early Ford V-8. There is a complete record of the restoration including photos, notes, and receipts. All individuals involved with the restoration are identified. The history is known back to Henry Weiner, the truck’s first owner who was the of a small grocery in Odell, Nebraska.
