Owner’s Description
This 1931 Ford Pro Street
Custom Chopped Coupe is an all-steel, professionally built hot rod with
extensive performance and chassis upgrades. Built by an experienced
aircraft/airframe/engine technician and corporate jet pilot, this coupe
combines classic Ford styling with modern engineering and serious street
performance.
The all-steel 1931 Ford
coupe body has been chopped 4 inches and is fitted with Brookville steel
fenders, hood, and a 1932 Ford grille shell. The body sits on a TCI custom
frame with Heidts front and rear suspension and a full roll cage with removable
side bars.
Power comes from a
Chevrolet 383 Stroker V8 with aluminum Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads, Howard
cam, 9.6:1 pistons, Edelbrock intake, new 850 CFM carburetor, MSD ignition, and
headers feeding Porter mufflers with cutouts. The engine has 4,060 miles. A GM
Turbo 400 automatic transmission with all-new hardened internals sends power
through a B&M Star shifter.
The narrowed 9-inch Ford
rear end features 3.36 gears, Moser 35-spline axles, all-new bearings, and
Mickey Thompson 18-inch rear tires. Wilwood brake components provide stopping
power, while a new aluminum radiator and Perma-Cool electric fan help keep the
engine running cool.
Additional features
include an American Autowire wiring kit with schematics, Summit battery
disconnect switch, a new $400 battery, IDIDIT tilt steering column with Grant
steering wheel, AutoMeter gauges, and Bosch tachometer. Numerous new JEGS,
Speedway, Yogi's, and Chassisworks components are incorporated throughout the
build.
Most parts documentation
and build photos are included, along with a clear title. The car runs cool,
drives straight, and is fast. This 1931 Ford offers an impressive combination
of all-steel traditional hot-rod styling, modern suspension and braking
components, and a potent 383 Stroker powerplant.
