Owner’s Description
This 1934 Ford Model 40
Roadster is a professionally built, high-performance street rod built by Wizard
Racing in Woodland, CA. Featuring a Wescott body, factory-tubbed design, and
NHRA-certified roll cage, this roadster combines classic hot rod styling with
serious drag-strip performance. It is powered by a 540ci Bowtie V8 producing
approximately 750 horsepower on pump gas, with a FAST XFI electronic fuel
injection system that allows it to switch to E85 with the flip of a switch. The
engine has approximately 1,000 miles since its build.
Power is delivered through
a Dedenbear two-speed Powerglide racing transmission equipped with an air
shifter, 4,000-rpm torque converter, and transbrake. The drivetrain features an
Alston Fab 9 rear housing, Mark Williams nodular third member, Detroit Locker
differential, and 3.90 gears. The chassis is equipped with Kugel front
suspension, four-bar rear suspension, Koni coil-overs, and a rear torsion bar.
Wilwood disc brakes on all four corners provide stopping power, while
Centerline Champ 500 wheels complete the setup.
The interior features
AutoMeter gauges with Ford logos, a tilt steering column, a race-style control
panel, and five-point safety equipment. Additional highlights include a Griffin
radiator with custom shroud and electric fan, custom coated headers, Flowmaster
3½-inch mufflers, halogen headlights, and LED taillights. The chassis and roll
cage are powder coated, and the car has an approximately 51% front / 49% rear
weight distribution.
Weighing approximately
2,700 pounds wet, according to the owner, this roadster has reportedly run
10.12 seconds at 128 mph, with seven passes completed without needing tools.
The wheelie bars have been removed but are included with the car. It is licensed
and street legal in California, offering a rare combination of street usability
and drag-strip capability. A large collection of receipts and a car-show
display board are also included. This is an exceptionally well-equipped,
professionally built hot rod for someone looking for vintage Ford styling with
serious performance.
