This is a fully rebuilt and modified classic with a complete LS-1 drivetrain conversion, all performed by a technician with decades of Scout rebuild experience. He took particular care to preserve the vintage vibe and aesthetic while making it work in our modern context. During the rebuild, immense engineering and custom fabrication went into the entire powertrain to give this Scout the power, reliability, performance, and fuel efficiency to handle any off-road adventure imaginable, while keeping it performing smoothly on a city street. The Scout is a forebearer of the modern SUV and holds a uniquely revered status. The Scout is one of the more interesting vehicles ever manufactured in the United States. International Harvester produced the Scout from 1961 to 1980, creating it as a competitor to the Jeep, manufacturing only 532,674 during its 20-year production run. The Scout is in the pantheon of the most respected 4WD steeds (with the ilk of the Land Rover Defenders, Chevy Blazers, and Ford Broncos). Land Rover restorations are cost-prohibitive for most, and Blazer and Bronco restorations are cliché. The Scout is rarer than all of them, and finding one is becoming difficult.

Exterior:

·       The engine has approximately 16,000 miles, 1,000 of which are post-restoration

·       4-speed automatic transmission Sidewinder Standard Automatic Shifter

·       Brake component rebuild and rework with chevy 4-wheel disc brakes

·       Suspension component rebuild and rework

·       Full electrical body wiring harness replacement

·       Custom fabricated front and rear sway bars

·       Fully rebuilt 700R4 automatic transmission

·       Dana 44 spring over axle conversation trussed with alloy axles front axle

·       Dana 60 rear axle narrowed to Scout width fully trussed rear Axle

·       BFG Mud terrain 35x12x16 tires with Pro comp aluminum alloy wheels

·       Interior floor/tub sprayed with spray-in bedliner and covered with new black carpet
