    Owner’s Description
“This 1986 VW Vanagon Synchro is a unique and well-loved conversion, originally a grey tin-top passenger van, which has been transformed into a high-top Weekender camper with a height of over 9ft. It features a Subaru EJ25 motor, which was converted prior to my ownership, along with a new wiring harness and ECU. The odometer reads 119,187 miles and is believed to be the original odometer. The van is equipped with a 4WD manual transmission, a single locking differential, and a decoupler, all of which are activated via an interior vacuum switch, ensuring excellent off-road capabilities. Inside, the van features a NAHT high-top conversion installed by VW Upfitters, complete with side windows, a bed platform, and headliner, providing a spacious and functional camper setup. The van also boasts many upgrades, including GoWesty plate steel front and rear bumpers, new paint and bodywork, a new catalytic converter that passes emissions in Utah, GoWesty springs for improved suspension, and an LED headlight and taillight upgrade. The Vanagonlife overland bay windows on both the driver and passenger sides, along with a Vanagonlife rear hatch window with a tire mount, add both style and functionality. A 50” straight light bar with Vanagonlife bar brackets, an ARB awning, and a HI-Lift jack with bumper mount complete the overland-ready setup. Inside, there is a handmade two-drawer kitchen cabinet with a Dometic sink and stove combo, perfect for cooking meals on the go. Heavy-duty truck mirrors, both left and right, provide enhanced visibility. There are a few things that need attention, including rear brake shoes that need replacing, axle flange seals that need attention, and a few small electrical issues like rear license plate bulbs and a dash bulb that need replacing. The radio, light bar, and roof vent wiring need to be reconnected to the main fuse box, as they were previously wired to an auxiliary battery, which has since been removed due to constant issues. This Vanagon Synchro is a reliable, well-built camper with plenty of potential for adventure, ideal for someone who appreciates vintage VW vans with the added benefit of modern upgrades and off-road capabilities.”
